  77. This package contains the SymmeToy(TM) <ASP> program (Version 1.0),
  78. by Hufnagel Software.  SymmeToy is a symmetric art program that allows
  79. you to view, recolor and print 8 supplied symmetric pictures and 3D
  80. models.  You can also create your own symmetric art which shares the
  81. underlying symmetry of the supplied art.  You can create symmetric
  82. patterns and roses, Escher-like drawings and decorated 3D models using
  83. SymmeToy.

  85. SymmeToy is a Windows program and will perform best on 486 systems
  86. running at 33mhz or faster, containing at least 4mb of memory, and
  87. equipped with at least a 256 color video card.  A color printer is
  88. optional.

  90. This is a shareware version of SymmeToy and includes all features of
  91. the program, and is not crippled in any way, but this version does
  92. include only 8 pieces of symmetric art.  If you like the shareware
  93. version, you will want to order the registered version to get all 25
  94. styles of symmetric art, many additional 3D models and 10 Windows
  95. wallpaper patterns created with SymmeToy.  The registered version also
  96. includes a 46 page manual that explains how to use the program and
  97. provides interesting information on the science and history of symmetry
  98. and symmetric art.

  152. This version of SymmeToy is intended for network downloading and, to
  153. save space, does not include the very common VBRUN300.DLL file.  Should
  154. this file be requested when you attempt to install the software, you
  155. will need to obtain a copy before you can continue.  Most online
  156. services have this file available, or you can acquire it from the
  157. author of SymmeToy.  Place VBRUN300.DLL in your C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
  158. directory and then try the installation of SymmeToy described below
  159. again.

  161. The installation procedure for SymmeToy is quite simple.  The
  162. package includes a program, "SETUP.EXE", which automates the
  163. entire process.  You will need about 2MB of available disk space
  164. on the hard drive on which you plan to install SymmeToy.

  166. The exact steps you need to take will depend on how you received
  167. SymmeToy.

  170. INSTALLING FROM DISKETTES
  171.  
  172. To install from diskette(s), you need to perform the following steps.
  173.  
  174.    o  Place the SymmeToy distribution diskette in the appropriate
  175.       diskette drive.

  177.    o  Start Windows and from the Program Manager click on FILE and then
  178.       on RUN.  Now type A:SETUP and press Enter.  SymmeToy will be
  179.       installed from your computer's A drive.

  181.    o  Follow the instructions presented by the installation program.

  184. INSTALLING FROM A HARD DRIVE

  186. If you downloaded SymmeToy from a BBS (or received it in the form of
  187. archive files from some other source), you will need to perform the
  188. following steps.

  190.    o  Extract the contents of the archive file(s) in a temporary
  191.       directory on your hard drive.  The procedure for doing this
  192.       varies, depending on the form in which you received the package.
  193.       In all likelihood, the fact that you are reading this text means
  194.       that you already have the necessary tools and knowledge to
  195.       perform this step.  If not, you should be able to obtain
  196.       directions for doing this from the same source from which you
  197.       received the package.

  199.    o  Execute the "SETUP.EXE" program which you have extracted.  For
  200.       example, if the temporary directory into which you have extracted
  201.       the SymmeToy package is C:\TEMPDIR, you should get into the
  202.       Windows Program Manager, click FILES and then click RUN.  Now
  203.       type C:\TEMPDIR\SETUP.EXE and press Enter to start the
  204.       installation.

  206. When you're satisfied that the installation was successful, you should
  207. delete the temporary directory FROM which you installed SymmeToy
  208. (C:\TEMPDIR, in the above discussion), including all its contents.
